Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks an Administrative Analyst to support the finance team with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis. You will work with department leadership to forecast needs and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/public administration or equivalent experience, strong accounting knowledge, and the ability to reconcile complex financial data. A valid driver’s license is expected in some cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience in accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, laws, regulations governing municipal finance.
• Ability to understand federal regulations and develop accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the finance team and department leadership with financial analysis and reporting.
• Develop and analyze upcoming financial needs with department leadership.
• Reconcile financial reports and budgets using Excel and PivotTables.
• Monitor grants and administer contractual agreements.
• Assist with preparing the agency's annual budget and allocations.
• Review state and VDSS allocations for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure proper general ledger postings and federal revenue mapping.
• Perform other duties as required.
