Job summary

IU Health West Hospital - Primary Care is hiring a Registration Specialist to support patient flow from arrival through departure. This onsite role handles check-in/out, insurance verification, scheduling, and demographic data entry with a focus on accuracy and friendly service.

You will work Monday–Friday, 8‑hour shifts, in a fast-paced clinic environment, collaborating with providers, nursing staff, and office leadership to ensure a smooth patient experience and timely reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to learn and retain medical coding concepts (ICD-10, CPT preferred).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients with check-in and check-out.
• Schedule appointments and manage clinic workflows.
• Work insurance and demographic queues to ensure accurate records.
• Answer incoming calls and route patients and visitors appropriately.
• Collect and validate patient demographic and insurance information.
• Explain department policies, charges, and payment expectations.
• Enter information accurately to support reimbursement and clinical outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, nursing teams, MAs, and managers.
• Support primary care clinic operations with professionalism and efficiency.
• Requires the ability to take initiative and meet objectives.

Position Overview

The Registration Specialist supports primary care operations by providing exceptional customer service and facilitating patient flow from arrival through departure. This role ensures accurate patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and communication while working closely with patients, providers, nursing staff, MAs, and clinic leadership.

Key Responsibilities
