Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support registration, scheduling, and insurance verification across departments. You will collect accurate patient information and ensure proper documentation and billing coordination.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospital setting, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification to ensure quality patient care and payment of hospital accounts.
• Interviews patients and families to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information and ensures all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed.
• Enters data into system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation to minimize patient wait times.
• Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations if applicable.
• Explains regulatory financial requirements to patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductible amounts as required.
• Maintains patient accounting data to produce clean claims and prevent denials and delays.
• Updates schedulers and patient information tools to ensure wait time communication.
• Schedules patient appointments and coordinates all scheduling including referrals and provider visits.
