Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner for Seton Northwest Hospital in Austin, TX. The role involves delivering specialized respiratory therapies, developing care plans, and leading emergency resuscitation as part of the urgent response team.

Expect responsibilities that include monitoring patients, adjusting treatments, and educating patients and families while coordinating with the respiratory care team in a full-time daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• Required Credential: Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from NBRC.
• BLS Provider or Instructor in Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire (AHA or Red Cross accepted).

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored care plans for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Deliver advanced respiratory care and operate complex equipment.
• Monitor patient conditions and adjust treatments to maximize recovery.
• Educate patients and families and connect them with community resources.
• Lead emergency resuscitation as part of the urgent response team.

• Deliver advanced respiratory care: Administer complex care modalities, manage specialized equipment and monitor real-time patient conditions to maximize recovery outcomes.
• Optimize clinical effectiveness: Continuously assess medication responses and treatment performance to adjust care plans based on individual patient progress.
• Empower patients and families: Educate patients and caregivers on managing their conditions while connecting them with vital community support programs.
• Lead emergency resuscitation: Respond swiftly to life-threatening resuscitation codes as a key member of the urgent response team.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
