Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a night shift role in the Transfer Center. The position is remote within one hour of Milwaukee, WI, and involves coordinating patient transfers across markets to optimize bed availability and care levels.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, connect physicians with specialists, and help manage pre-registration and insurance verifications while tracking patient status and reporting to care teams.

Qualifications

• RN license required prior to hire date or transfer date.
• BLS certification preferred (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or active professional licensure.
• BSN degree preferred.

• Schedule: Night shift | 7pm - 7am | Full-time

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Facilitate patient movement across markets based on acuity, bed availability, and service requirements.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate levels of care.

• Connect requesting physicians with specialty consultants and maintain relationships with referral sources.

• Assist and maintain records with pre-registration, insurance verification, and overall care processes for process improvement purposes.

• Monitor status changes and relay pertinent medical reports to admitting physicians and nursing units.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

• Bachelors in Nursing

Additional Preferences:

• 2+ years Emergency Department (ED) experience, charge nurse or some type of leadership
