Ascension Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to lead high-acuity care on the Med/Surg Float team at Columbia St. Mary\'s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. This full-time rotating schedule places you on the front lines of progressive care and higher-acuity patient management.

You will coordinate multi-disciplinary care, monitor patient safety, and document care journeys to support optimal outcomes. A Diploma in Nursing and Wisconsin RN licensure are required, with pediatric life support

Qualifications

• 3+ years of nursing experience preferred.
• Med/Surg and progressive care training.
• License to practice as a Registered Nurse (Wisconsin Board of Nursing) required.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-acuity patient care across Intermediate and Med/Surg units, stabilizing and supporting complex patients.
• Coordinate care by serving as central point of contact for clinical teams to ensure seamless recovery plans.
• Monitor patient safety and document care journeys to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Provide expert nursing support for hospital needs in highest-acuity situations.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead high-acuity patient care across Intermediate and Med/Surg units, utilizing your specialized training in progressive care to stabilize and support complex patients.
• Orchestrate the care journey by serving as the central point of contact for all clinical disciplines, ensuring every patient receives a seamless and well-coordinated recovery plan.
• Monitor and advocate for patient safety by maintaining a vigilant eye on clinical conditions and documenting care journeys with precision to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Adapt and respond to evolving hospital needs, providing expert nursing support where the hospital’s highest-acuity cases require it most.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time ofhire required.

Additional Preferences:

• 3 or more years of nursing experience preferred.
• Med/surg and progressive care trained. We are the tertiary care site for Ascension so all specialty and high acuity patients are sent to our campus.
