Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is seeking an experienced RN to float across telemetry and acute care units, providing continuous cardiac monitoring and safe patient care. The role supports complex populations while integrating into fast-paced teams across shifts.

Expectation includes TX RN licensure, BLS, and preferred ALS/PALS. You’ll work nights in a full-time capacity, aligning with the facility’s mission and patient-centered approach at Ascension.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• Licensed RN credentialed by the Texas Board of Nursing prior to hire.
• ALS and PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Floated across telemetry and acute care units delivering continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Recognized ECG abnormalities and initiated emergency protocols as needed.
• Managed telemetry, vasoactive drips, IV therapies and central lines per unit workflow.
• Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams and provided safe medication administration and handoffs.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Floated adaptively across diverse telemetry and acute care units, providing direct, continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring and intermediate-level nursing care to complex patient populations.
• Recognized, interpreted, and responded to subtle ECG abnormalities, lethal dysrhythmias, and rapid clinical deterioration, initiating immediate emergency protocols and interventions.
• Managed continuous cardiac telemetry, titratable vasoactive drips, IV therapies, and central lines while seamlessly adhering to varying unit-specific workflows and electronic health record systems.
• Integrated into fast-paced multidisciplinary teams on short notice, delivering safe medication administration, patient advocacy, and clear clinical handoffs across shift changes.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
