Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department on the Main Campus. You will perform patient assessments, triage, trauma care, IV insertions, and essential nursing duties during 7p-7a shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.

Candidates must hold Ohio RN licensure and current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS certifications or obtain within stated timelines. PRN requires 1 year of RN experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or obtained within specified timelines).
• Current TNCC and NIHSS certifications (or obtained within required timeframe).
• 1 year RN experience for PRN role.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and triage in the ED.
• Deliver trauma care and IV access as needed.
• Monitor patients and coordinate with care teams.
• Ensure timely documentation and safety compliance.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Acutely ill pediatric to adult patients
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Patient Assessments
• Patient Triage
• Trauma care
• IV insertion, blood draws, Foley catheter insertion
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Paramedics, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Behavioral Observers (BO), Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 93 beds (Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) included)
• 10 Trauma Bays
• 80k+ patient visits annually

Awards or Recognitions the unit has received:

• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Lantern Award
• Stroke Certified

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
• NRP Certification
