Job summary

MetroHealth’s Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department invites a dedicated RN to join our fast-paced team. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments, triage, and trauma-focused care for acutely ill pediatric to adult patients.

Required are Ohio RN licensure and current certifications (BLS/ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS). PRN shifts demand at least one year of RN experience and timely certification maintenance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessments in a high-acuity ED setting.
• Triage incoming patients and prioritize care needs.
• Provide trauma care and rapid interventions when required.
• IV insertions, blood draws, Foley catheter insertions.
• Demonstrate time management, critical thinking and delegation.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Acutely ill pediatric to adult patients
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Patient Assessments
• Patient Triage
• Trauma care
• IV insertion, blood draws, Foley catheter insertion
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Paramedics, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Behavioral Observers (BO), Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 93 beds (Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) included)
• 10 Trauma Bays
• 80k+ patient visits annually

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
• NRP Certification
