Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for our Main Campus Glick unit. You will assess, triage, and treat acutely ill patients within a Level 1 Trauma Center, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires Ohio RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PRN experience. Rotating weekends/holidays, 7p-7a, with 72 hours every two weeks.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and triage in ED.
• Provide trauma care to acutely ill patients.
• Administer IVs, draw blood, Foley catheter insertions.
• Demonstrate time management, critical thinking, and delegation.
• Collaborate with LPNs, Paramedics, PCNAs, BOs, and providers.
• Work in Level 1 Trauma Center ED.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Acutely ill pediatric to adult patients
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Patient Assessments
• Patient Triage
• Trauma care
• IV insertion, blood draws, Foley catheter insertion
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Paramedics, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Behavioral Observers (BO), Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 93 beds (Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) included)
• 10 Trauma Bays
• 80k+ patient visits annually

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire
