Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus Emergency Department in Ohio seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for trauma-center patient care. Responsibilities include patient assessments, triage, trauma procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity setting.

Required Ohio RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC/NIHSS certifications as applicable, and PRN eligibility with relevant RN experience. Excellent clinical and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and triage in the ED.
• Provide trauma care in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• IV insertion, blood draws and Foley catheter insertion.
• Demonstrate time management, critical thinking and delegating.
• Collaborate with LPNs, Paramedics, PCNAs, BOs and providers.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Acutely ill pediatric to adult patients
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Patient Assessments
• Patient Triage
• Trauma care
• IV insertion, blood draws, Foley catheter insertion
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Paramedics, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Behavioral Observers (BO), Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 93 beds (Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) included)
• 10 Trauma Bays
• 80k+ patient visits annually

Awards or Recognitions the unit has received:

• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Lantern Award
