Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola in Pensacola, FL, is seeking a dedicated PACU/Recovery RN to provide specialized postoperative care for anesthetized patients in the immediate recovery period. You will follow AORN and ASPAN aseptic standards, monitor patient responses, manage pain, and anticipate needs based on surgical procedures.

Florida RN licensure and relevant certifications are required. This rotating, part-time role offers opportunities for professional growth and a team-focused

Qualifications

• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
• Registered Nurse license in Florida (or multi-state Compact) before hire
• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care for anesthetized patients in immediate post-operative recovery.
• Adhere to AORN and ASPAN standards, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Continuously assess patient responses, manage post-operative pain, and evaluate recovery progress.
• Anticipate complications based on surgical procedures and underlying pathophysiology.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Provide specialized nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural recovery period.
• Adhere strictly to AORN and ASPAN standards, maintaining aseptic sterile technique throughout all patient interventions.
• Continuously assess patient responses to treatments, manage acute post-surgical pain, and evaluate overall recovery progress.
• Anticipate case-specific complications and needs based on thorough knowledge of surgical procedures and underlying pathophysiology.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.

Work Experience

• One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required.
• Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.
• BLS and ACLS
• one year adult ICU experience
