Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Staff RN in Pensacola, FL, within the Studer Family Children’s Hospital, Surgery Recovery Room. The role is full-time with day shifts, focusing on postoperative care and rapid patient assessment to support recovery.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited RN program, active Florida RN license, and relevant certifications. One year of staff RN experience is preferred, especially in critical care or PACU settings.

Qualifications

• Requires Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire. ALS recognized by AHA/ARC.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
• Florida RN license prior to hire; multi-state license if applicable.

• Follow aseptic sterile technique per AORN/ASPAN standards.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Follows aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluates patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manages patient's pain.
• Anticipates case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.

Work Experience

• One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required. Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.
