Job summary

Ascension is hiring for a PACU RN at Via Christi in Derby, KS. The role focuses on leading post-anesthesia recovery, assessing patient stability after surgery, and implementing individualized pain management plans to support smooth, safe recoveries.

Expect rigorous aseptic protocols and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Minimum licensure includes RN with Kansas Board of Nursing, ACLS, and BLS within specified timelines; Pediatric Life Support is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
• RN credential with Kansas Board of Nursing before hire.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date (AHA/ARC accepted).
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date (AHA/ARC accepted).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead post-anesthesia recovery care by anticipating surgical complications and tailoring interventions to each patient's procedure.
• Monitor and evaluate clinical responses to treatments to safeguard patient stability during the critical transition from surgery.
• Deliver personalized pain management plans to maximize patient comfort and support a smooth recovery process.
• Maintain rigorous aseptic standards during all bedside procedures to prevent infection and protect vulnerable post-surgical patients.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• Critical Care Expertise: 1+ years of recent experience in an ICU or high-acuity Critical Care environment to ensure patient safety in complex scenarios.
