Job summary

Ascension's Via Christi, St. Francis in Wichita, KS seeks an experienced RN for the Emergency Department. The role features an evening, full-time schedule with weekend shifts and a $7,500 sign-on bonus potential, reflecting the fast-paced ED environment.

You will implement care plans, monitor patients, and coordinate with physicians and nurses to ensure timely treatment and accurate documentation while guiding discharge planning and transitions within the care continuum.

Qualifications

• RN license and diploma required at time of hire.
• Advanced Life Support/ACLS, BLS, and Pediatric ACLS required within stated timelines.
• Emergency Department experience preferred and ability to implement care plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage care plans for a diverse patient load with real-time vital sign updates.
• Execute physician and nursing orders accurately to ensure timely treatment.
• Serve as primary clinical contact to coordinate tests, treatments, and reassessments.
• Coordinate discharge planning to ensure safe transition to the next level of care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Implement and manage care plans for a diverse patient load, closely monitoring and recording vital changes and communicating updates to the medical team in real time.
• Work at the heart of the unit, executing physician and nursing orders with precision to ensure every patient receives timely treatment.
• Act as the primary clinical point of contact for your patients, ensuring all tests, treatments, and reassessments are completed efficiently to keep their care plan on track.
• Coordinate with the team to ensure discharge needs are met and the patient is ready for their next level of care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
