Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent Anderson is seeking an experienced RN to join the Ortho, 3 South unit for nights (6:00pm-6:30am).

This full-time role includes every third weekend and rotating holidays, with a focus on safe, pain-controlled recovery after orthopedic surgery. You will work with surgeons, therapists, and care teams to tailor discharge plans, educate families, and support patients returning to daily life.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Registered Nurse licensure by Indiana Board of Nursing before hire.
• Diploma from accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure at hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead orthopedic recovery plans focusing on pain control, wound care, and safe mobility.
• Coordinate with surgeons, physical therapists and specialists to align treatments with long-term goals.
• Monitor patient progress with clinical judgment to ensure safe post-surgical recovery.
• Educate patients and families and plan discharge for a smooth return to daily life.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the recovery journey for orthopedic patients by implementing specialized care plans that prioritize pain management, wound integrity, and the return of safe mobility.

• Champion the multidisciplinary approach by coordinating with surgeons, physical therapists, and specialists to ensure every treatment aligns with the patient's long-term functional goals.

• Monitor patient progress with high clinical intuition, identifying subtle changes in condition to ensure a safe, complication-free recovery from surgery.

• Empower patients and their support systems through expert education and discharge planning, providing the confidence and tools needed for a successful transition back to daily life.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
