Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, TX is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit on a night-shift, full-time schedule of 36 hours across three 12-hour shifts. You will follow established protocols, develop care plans, monitor patient status, document in the EHR, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe transitions and high-quality outcomes.

Candidates must have a nursing diploma, Texas RN license, ACLS within 6 months, and BLS

Qualifications

• RN license required (Texas)
• Critical care/ICU experience preferred
• ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer date; BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer date
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure at time of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in ICU per established protocols
• Develop and monitor individualized care plans to meet clinical goals
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition changes to the care team
• Ensure accurate documentation and order execution in the EHR/EMR
• Coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team for safe transitions

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse (RN), following established clinical protocols to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

• Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans, adjusting interventions to support recovery and clinical goals.

• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition changes to the interdisciplinary team for coordinated, patient-centered care.

• Execute physician and nursing orders accurately while maintaining compliant and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR).

• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

• 1 year previous critical care experience preferred.
