Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at Ascension Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, TX. This is a night shift, PRN position requiring ED experience and current Texas RN licensure.

Responsibilities include delivering direct patient care, implementing care plans, coordinating with the interprofessional team, and documenting patient status in the EHR/EMR to ensure safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited nursing school or professional licensure at time of hire.
• Registered Nurse credential issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver direct patient care as a Registered Nurse (RN), ensuring high-quality outcomes while following clinical protocols, safety standards, and patient-centered care practices.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans, assessing patient conditions and adjusting interventions to support recovery, continuity of care, and overall patient outcomes.
• Coordinate care across the interdisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication, seamless care coordination, and improved patient experience throughout the healthcare continuum.
• Document and communicate patient status using Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR), maintaining accurate clinical documentation and supporting compliance, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR professional licensure at time of hire required.

Additional Preferences

• 2 years previous emergency department experience preferred.
