Job summary

Ascension Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL, seeks a Day shift, Full-time Charge Nurse for the Adult Psychiatric Nursing Unit. You will work 3x12s with every other weekend and holiday commitments, guiding daily operations and coordinating nursing staff to deliver compassionate care.

Minimum requirements include Illinois RN licensure and BLS within 1 month of hire. Prior lead/charge experience in inpatient behavioral health is preferred; opportunities for growth

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
• RN credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily unit operations and coordinate staffing schedules to empower the team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
• Assess real-time patient needs to assign nursing staff effectively, meeting clinical priorities and physician requests.
• Oversee department workflows and resolve patient concerns while managing resources and supplies for a safe care environment.
• Develop top talent by contributing to hiring, training and ongoing performance evaluation of your clinical team.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• A minimum of 1 year of Charge Nurse or Lead Role experience required.
• Inpatient acute behavioral health experience required.
