Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support Gulf Region projects located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires 5+ years in transportation engineering with a PE license and proficiency in major design tools.

You will manage schedules, budgets, and client communications, coordinate with design teams, and help develop and deliver roadway and traffic projects while maintaining Volkert standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree (B.S. or M.S.).
• 5+ years of transportation engineering experience with progressive responsibilities.
• Alabama PE license required.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA or HCS.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel/overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and plan review for Volkert clients in Alabama (opportunity cross-region).
• Organize activities, schedules, and reports for transportation projects.
• Lead or assist in developing project designs and direct designers to deliver work.
• Provide technical design guidance for roadway design, traffic operations, signaling and timing, corridor and safety studies, and transportation planning.
• Prepare studies, documents, and reports, and track contracts and change orders.
• Manage project budgets and financial metrics.
• Prepare correspondence with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Attend project meetings and engage with clients and the public.
