Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support our Gulf Region in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. You will manage schedules, lead design teams, and ensure quality across roadway and traffic studies.

The role requires 5+ years in transportation engineering, an Alabama PE or eligibility, and proficiency with common industry software. Travel and extended hours may be required as project needs arise.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of transportation engineering experience with growth in project responsibilities.
• Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) License.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, or HCS.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage project schedules, extended hours, and overnight travel.
• Dependable, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and plan review for Volkert clients in Alabama.
• Organize activities, schedules, and reports for transportation projects.
• Lead or assist in developing project designs and direct designers to deliver work.
• Provide design guidance on roadway design, traffic operations, signals, and planning studies.
• Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports.
• Prepare, issue, and track contracts and change orders for all phases.
• Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics.
• Communicate with clients, subconsultants, and regulators.
• Attend project meetings and engage with clients and the public.
