Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support Gulf Region projects located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

The role requires 5+ years of transportation engineering experience and an Alabama PE license, with proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, ArcGIS, and related tools. The position involves coordinating project schedules, budgets, and client communications, while leading design efforts and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Requires B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 5+ years in transportation engineering with growing responsibilities.
• Alabama PE license required.
• Proficiency with industry software: MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, or HCS.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage schedules and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and plan review for Volkert clients in Alabama.
• Organize activities, schedules, and reports for transportation projects.
• Lead or assist in developing project designs and direct designers.
• Provide technical design guidance on roadway design and traffic studies.
• Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports; manage contracts and change orders.
• Monitor project budgets to meet financial metrics and deadlines.
• Communicate with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies; attend meetings.
• Support business development and market Volkert to clients; mentor staff.
