Job summary

Self-Help Credit Union in Vallejo, CA is seeking a Regional HRM to partner with managers and staff, shape employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness across the region.

You will lead HR operations, support mergers and transitions, ensure compliance with ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and oversee talent acquisition with Recruiters, while coaching teams and driving Self-Help's mission of economic opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years HR Generalist experience including employee relations and performance management.
• Experience serving as a strategic HR Business Partner to senior leadership.
• Experience conducting complex workplace investigations and resolving high-risk employee relations matters.
• Knowledge of EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and state/federal employment law.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic HR partner to managers and staff, guiding employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with HR Operations on leave administration, payroll, benefits, and HR processes to ensure policy consistency and strong customer service.
• Identify staff engagement opportunities and implement action plans to improve the staff experience.
• Lead investigations, workplace complaints, reductions in force, accommodations, and high-risk employment decisions with Legal support as needed.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational transitions by coordinating HR activities and providing guidance during integration.
• Monitor regulatory compliance at local, state, and federal levels (ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.).
• Assist onboarding and policy administration, developing and maintaining People policies with consistent interpretation.
• Respond to unemployment claims and represent the organization at hearings as needed.
• Lead recruiters, provide direction, monitor metrics, and develop talent acquisition strategies for the region.
• Build trusted partnerships with managers and staff as an HR subject matter expert and advisor.
• Facilitate training and support junior HR staff if needed.
