Job summary

Self-Help seeks a Regional HRM in Vallejo, CA to serve as a strategic HR partner to managers and staff, guiding employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning while ensuring policy compliance.

You will collaborate with HR Operations, support onboarding, lead investigations, and drive talent acquisition strategies for the region, while aligning with Self-Help’s mission and core values. This full-time role requires travel and offers strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.
• 6 years HR Generalist experience including employee relations, performance management, organizational design, and interpreting employment law.
• Proven strategic HR Business Partner to senior leadership.
• Experience conducting complex workplace investigations and resolving high-risk employee relations matters.
• Ability to influence leaders through coaching and consultation.
• Knowledge of EEO, ADA, and state/federal employment law.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems. UltiPro preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic HR partner to managers and staff, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and People policies.
• Collaborate with the HR Operations team on leave administration, payroll, benefits, and other HR processes, ensuring policy consistency and high service levels.
• Identify staff engagement opportunities and develop action plans to improve the staff experience.
• Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations and high-risk decisions, with Legal partnership as needed.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational transitions by coordinating HR activities and communicating policies.
• Monitor regulatory changes to ensure compliance with ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, and other laws.
• Assist onboarding and policy administration, developing and maintaining People policies.
• Respond to Unemployment claims and represent the organization at hearings as needed.
• Lead Recruiters with strategic direction and talent acquisition planning for the region.
• Build trusted partnerships with managers and staff as the HR expert and advisor.
• Facilitate training and develop junior HR staff as needed.
• Participate in special projects and organization-wide initiatives.
