Job summary

Amazon Inc. is seeking a Regional Environmental Engineer within the AWS Environmental Team to lead regional environmental permitting and compliance for data centers and AWS facilities.

The role focuses on Phase I/II assessments, permit strategies, and regulatory agency interactions across the US and globally. The successful candidate will collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Design, and Operations to ensure compliant, sustainable, and timely project delivery for AWS datacenters and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure experience.
• Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural/cultural resource evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations to support data center siting and development.
• Lead environmental due diligence including Phase I/II ESAs and permitting evaluations.
• Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans for new data center locations and expansions.
• Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to project partners.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to optimize site designs.
• Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and timely.
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations to support permit acquisition.
• Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success.
