Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to lead and manage estimating functions across regions, handling budgets, staffing, and project work scopes. You will coordinate with PMs, develop cost analyses, and ensure timely, accurate proposals.

The role requires collaboration with design leads for constructability, maintaining standardized estimating systems, and maintaining historical data on man-hours for various project types. Travel ranges 20–40% across domestic/international regions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 10 years related experience with at least 3 in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Travel may be required (20% - 40%).

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhances of the cost database estimating system.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man-hours for various types of estimates (i.e.: hard bid, design/build, construction management at risk, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.) and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
