Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator lead to oversee regional estimating functions and drive cost-effective proposals. You will coordinate with project managers and design teams to ensure accurate budgets and successful bids.

Responsibilities include managing bid preparation, pricing negotiations with subcontractors, and maintaining the cost database. Strong leadership, travel readiness (20–40%), and deep knowledge of estimating techniques are essential.

Qualifications

• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control; ability to read drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man-hours for various types of estimates and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
