Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced professional to manage estimating functions within a designated region, providing administrative and technical support throughout procurement and bid processes.

The role involves coordinating with project managers, design leads, and suppliers, maintaining cost databases, and guiding cost estimates across multiple trades. Travel may be required, and a strong background in estimating is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. (10 years of related experience with at least 3 in supervisory/management)
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group.
• Implements established estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Supports project managers in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies and materials/methods; recommends database changes.
• Provides leadership by reviewing project details and recommending strategies and resources.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of estimating systems and maintenance of cost database.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours for various estimate types.
• Reviews final estimate and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
