Job summary

Smithfield Foods seeks a Regional Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead cutting-edge safety and environmental programs across facilities. You’ll collaborate with site EHS and PSM staff, ensuring compliance with ISO, SIPS, EMS, and regulatory requirements while driving performance using internal metrics.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in EHS, and willingness to travel about 75% of the time.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
Ability to make strategic decisions in stressful situations, including leading emergency response efforts.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation and Management: assist facility EHS teams to maintain a safe working environment and apply programs consistently.
Environmental Management and Efficiency Initiatives: conduct reviews of water, energy, waste and food loss and waste management; document scope and project outcomes.
Compliance and Regulations: ensure safety compliance with federal regulations and corporate requirements (SIPS, PSM, EMS) and permits.
Incident Reporting and Response: report incidents to EHS Ops Director and coordinate regulatory visits and inquiries.
Risk Assessment and Audits: lead corporate audit teams, support site audits, and close out findings.
Claims Management: assist with managing claim costs and participate in case reviews.
Training and Education: ensure required trainings are implemented and up to date; participate in corporate training.
