Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas seeks a Director of Operations for the Carolinas Region to ensure operational health and systemic integrity of all programs. You will lead teams, drive quality assurance, and ensure compliance with funding guidelines and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the VP, you will oversee audits, data-driven improvements, and collaboration with program leadership to sustain high-quality services aligned with VOACC’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred; licenses in clinical field helpful but not required.
• Minimum 5 years of operational leadership in behavioral health.
• Experience with CARF accreditation processes.
• Minimum 3 years of project or program management.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality standards.
• Proven ability to analyze data and drive systemic improvements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive systems and processes for operational excellence across all Carolinas programs.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with federal, state, local, and funder requirements.
• Lead audits, corrective actions, and accreditation efforts (CARF).
• Oversee daily operations of quality assurance across service lines.
• Collaborate with program leadership and external stakeholders to advance initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs and data to support program development and growth.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field

Master’s degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or related field

Clinical license (preferred)

Operational leadership in behavioral health (5+ years)

CARF accreditation experience

Project/program management (3+ years)

Regulatory compliance and quality assurance

Data analysis for operational decisions

Excellent communication and collaboration
