Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead the day-to-day maintenance of our owned and leased properties.

The role oversees staff, ensures safety, compliance, and efficient operations, and supports asset preservation. You will supervise maintenance teams, coordinate regular inspections, and drive capital projects while partnering with leadership on budgeting and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in facilities, engineering, or related field.
• Experience managing multiple properties and staff.
• Knowledge of building systems, safety codes, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations across assigned properties and ensure timely resolution of requests.
• Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with building, life-safety and accessibility standards.
• Plan and monitor capital improvement projects and budgets.
• Manage vendor contracts, bidding, and performance to meet standards and costs.
• Supervise and develop maintenance staff, assign workloads, and ensure safe practices.
• Assist in budgeting and financial reporting for maintenance and capital projects.
