Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Regional Professional Coding Supervisor to lead hospital coding functions within the Revenue Cycle Mid Service. The role emphasizes oversight of coding quality, productivity, and compliance across the system.

The candidate will develop dashboards, guide staff in documentation improvement, and collaborate with physicians and departments to ensure accurate coding and timely revenue capture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HIM or health care field, or 5+ years coding experience.
• Certification in good standing: CPC, CCS-P.
• Minimum 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
• Epic experience required.
• Microsoft Word/Excel knowledge required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and day-to-day management of hospital professional coding.
• Develop methods to attain and maintain coding metrics and dashboards.
• Communicate regulatory information to coding specialists and ensure compliant application.
• Assist in recording documentation, data retrieval and interpretation for coding.
• Coordinate processes to comply with coding, billing, and data registry requirements.
• Collaborate with other departments and staff to improve coding workflows.
• Maintain communication with physicians and hospital staff on coding issues.
• Participate in team meetings, workshops and organizational initiatives.
• Pursue ongoing education and participate in committees as directed.
• Perform other assigned projects as needed.
