Job summary

West Virginia University Health System seeks a Coding Supervisor to oversee hospital and professional coding staff and support the management team in daily operations covering reimbursement, coding, abstracting, productivity, quality and education.

The role ensures compliance with federal/state regulations, leads education initiatives for clinics and hospitals, and serves as a resource for coders, providers, and revenue cycle. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current HIM/Coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
• Five years of medical coding experience required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises coding staff and assists management in daily department operations related to reimbursement, coding, abstracting, productivity, quality and education.
• Ensures coding backlogs and charge lag remain at acceptable levels.
• Acts as expert coding resource to coders, providers, revenue cycle, and specialty groups.
