Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Academic Affairs ("AA") is headed by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who serves as the institution's Chief Academic Officer ("CAO") and is responsible for administering academic policies. AA is comprised of each of the university's colleges, schools, and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units, to include Learner Operations, Research, Innovation and Engagement, Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research, and Global Affairs. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU's culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions Office is the primary point of contact for a traditional first year student, transfer, or non-traditional adult student seeking admission to East Carolina University. The office is responsible for identifying and recruiting potential applicants with outstanding academic ability and potential and assisting in the application process to completion.

Primary Purpose of Position

Located in Raleigh, NC/Durham, NC/Chapel Hill, NC areas. This position serves in an informational recruitment role with prospective freshman and transfer students, parents, high school counselors, and community partners, while demonstrating the highest commitment to outstanding customer service. Admissions Counselors are responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic territory, including managing all recruiting and yield activities with the territory and other designated geographic areas. This position articulates admissions policies and procedures to students, families, and counselors; participates in university undergraduate admissions recruitment activities, including high school day/night programs, college fairs, and individual visits. This role builds and maintains strong relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, alumni, and administrators to support feeder and emerging schools. This position advises and counsels prospective students and families on the educational opportunities at ECU, admissions criteria, polices, procedures, academic and major scholarship programs at informational sessions, ECU Open House, Pirates Aboard, and other special events. This position represents the university to a wide range of external audiences and is expected to uphold the institution's mission, values, and commitment to student access and success. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the goals of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

The Regional Admissions Counselor serves as the primary representative of East Carolina University within the assigned Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill territory. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract, engage, and enroll prospective undergraduate students, including freshmen and transfer populations. This position builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and provides guidance to prospective students and families throughout the admissions process.

This role requires full-time availability for core recruiting duties; therefore, time-off programs for academic practicums cannot be accommodated.
