Job summary

The International Rescue Committee in Iowa City is seeking an Intensive Case Management Caseworker to support refugees, asylees, and ORR-eligible populations with client-centered services.

You will conduct intake assessments, develop SMART self-sufficiency plans, coordinate with healthcare and social services, and maintain thorough documentation in the ETO system while collaborating with local partners and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of case management experience with similar populations.
• Fluent in English required; proficiency in Dari/Pashto preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine client eligibility for ICM programming and conduct intake assessments.
• Develop SMART Self-sufficiency plans for each client enrolled in the ICM program.
• Evaluate client progress every six months during active program enrollment to determine the client’s progress and identify new needs and actions.
• Assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems, including benefits applications and appointments.
• Conduct community outreach and maintain a network of service providers that meet client needs.
• Maintain strong relationships with refugee coordinators and health coordinators to ensure client needs are met.
• Provide orientation on women’s health, transportation navigation, and local healthcare systems.
• Respond to client crises with supervisor guidance.
• Assist clients with requesting financial assistance and document in case files (IRC database).
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in client’s case file throughout the service period; document services in ETO.
• Attend trainings and meetings; may train/lead volunteers and interns.
