Job summary

Hussmann is seeking a skilled Service Technician to diagnose and repair refrigeration, HVAC, and related systems in supermarkets and cold storage facilities. You will support maintenance, perform routine checks, and assist with equipment start-ups while ensuring accurate documentation and swift customer service.

Ideal candidates hold EPA 608 certification, a valid driver’s license, and strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• Must have a Valid Driver’s License and maintain a safe driving record according with the Fleet Policy.
• Must be physically able to walk distances, bench and crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift/carry objects up to fifty pounds, repetitively and for an external period.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail orientated and highly motivated.
• Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of basic maintenance tasks and use of hand tools.
• Must be able to work nights and/or weekends as required.
• Working knowledge of basic refrigeration and/or knowledge of commercial refrigeration and HVAC is preferred.
• Superior decision-making ability and paperwork skills.
• Able to correctly teach all the previously listed items.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer needs for service of refrigeration, HVAC and related systems in supermarkets and cold storage facilities.
• Perform prescribed, routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems and merchandisers.
• Lead start-up of new refrigeration equipment with other technicians.
• Provide material and labor estimates to bid service and repair jobs.
• Maintain truck inventory, order and manage parts with care to minimize waste.
• Complete documents and communication in a thorough, timely manner.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment on more complex service calls.
• Demonstrate knowledge of compressor operation, oil systems, and EMS controls.
