Job summary

MACT Health Board Inc. in California seeks a Referral Specialist to coordinate patient referrals, diagnostic orders, and surgery coordination with outside facilities.

You will verify insurance, obtain authorizations, transmit medical records, and schedule specialty care. You will maintain follow-up on referrals, track documentation, respond to calls and emails with courtesy, and work closely with providers and staff to ensure smooth workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and medical office workflows.
• Minimum 1 year as referral clerk or similar role handling patient referrals.
• Experience handling referrals for treatment and coordinating with outside facilities.

Responsibilities

• Process patient referrals and diagnostic orders and coordinate surgery with outside facilities.
• Verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations.
• Transmit medical records to outside facilities and arrange appointments for specialty care.
• Follow up on all referrals and document activities including receipt of records.
