Job summary

MACT Health Board in the United States seeks a detail-oriented Referral Specialist to manage referrals, diagnostic orders, and surgery coordination for patients across outside facilities. You will ensure timely processing and proper follow-up, including record transmission and appointment scheduling.

The role requires medical terminology knowledge, medical office experience, HIPAA compliance, and strong communication skills to support efficient patient care workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Terminology knowledge required.
• Medical Office experience preferred.
• One year of referral clerk or related experience.
• One year in medical receptionist/assistant role or relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Expedite referrals, diagnostic orders and surgery coordination with outside facilities.
• Verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations.
• Transmit medical records to outside facilities and schedule appointments.
• Follow up on referrals, track documentation and ensure chart attachments.
• Communicate respectfully with patients and external providers to maintain workflow.
