Job summary

WellSpan Health in Chambersburg, PA is seeking a detail-oriented Front Office Insurance Verification Specialist to support assigned practices. You will schedule patient appointments, verify insurance, obtain authorizations and referrals, and maintain records.

This full-time, dayshift role requires discretion and teamwork within a busy healthcare network. You will interact with patients and staff to ensure smooth documentation and timely care across WellSpan locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year medical insurance experience or experience obtaining authorizations/referrals.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred (within 180 days).

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments with specialty providers and handles referrals.
• Ensures patient confidentiality.
• Manages the insurance referral process according to policy.
• Reviews patient insurance to obtain authorizations for tests, labs, DME and meds.
• Provides insurer with clinical information to secure authorizations.
• Communicates with clinical team when authorization cannot be obtained.
• Maintains referral record in the EMR.
