Job summary

City of SeaTac's Recreation Division is seeking a Recreation Leader 3 to design and run community classes, activities, and events for youth, teens, adults, seniors, and diverse groups. You’ll supervise Recreation Leaders 1 & 2, help keep facilities safe and welcoming, transport participants by city van, perform basic custodial tasks, and assist with scheduling and records.

This active, hands-on role rewards teamwork and direct community impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent AND one year of community-based recreation or closely related experience
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License by date of appointment
• Satisfactory three-year driving abstract
• CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
• Food handler’s permit (for senior programs) within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Create, plan, and implement recreational and educational classes, activities, and community-wide events.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements as needed.
• Lead groups across multiple age ranges and populations.
• Provide direction to Recreation Leader 1 and Recreation Leader 2 staff.
• Support a positive, inclusive, and safe program environment.
• Prepare facilities for use: set up tables, chairs, equipment, and materials.
• Reset and store equipment after programs.
• Perform routine custodial tasks (sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, restocking supplies).
• Safely transport participants using the City’s 14-passenger van (including wheelchair lift).
• Administer routine First Aid and CPR as needed.
• Maintain awareness of safety regulations and program requirements.
• Perform clerical duties: scheduling, filing, typing correspondence, maintaining records.
• Maintain inventory of materials and supplies; report maintenance needs.
