City of SeaTac is seeking a Recreation Leader 3 to help design and deliver engaging recreational and educational programs for diverse community members. You will lead activities, guide junior staff, and help ensure facilities are welcoming, safe, and ready for use.
You will coordinate events, support administrative tasks, and uphold the City’s values through collaboration and responsible service to the public.
SeaTac’s Recreation Division creates spaces where people connect, learn, play, and thrive. As a Recreation Leader 3, you’ll help shape programs that serve youth, teens, adults, seniors, special populations, and cultural arts participants. You’ll lead activities, support community events, guide Recreation Leaders 1 & 2, and help ensure our facilities are welcoming, safe, and ready for use.

Create, plan, and implement recreational and educational classes, activities, and community-wide events.
Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements as needed.
Lead groups across multiple age ranges and populations.
Provide direction to Recreation Leader 1 and Recreation Leader 2 staff.
Support a positive, inclusive, and safe program environment.
Prepare facilities for use: set up tables, chairs, equipment, and materials.
Reset and store equipment after programs.
Perform routine custodial tasks (sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, restocking supplies).
Safely transport participants using the City’s 14-passenger van (including wheelchair lift).
Administer routine First Aid and CPR as needed.
Maintain awareness of safety regulations and program requirements.
Perform clerical duties: scheduling, filing, typing correspondence, maintaining records.
Maintain inventory of materials and supplies; report maintenance needs.

High school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of community-based recreation or closely related experience
OR
A combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
Valid Washington State Driver’s License by date of appointment
Satisfactory three-year driving abstract
CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
Food handler’s permit (for senior programs) within 30 days of hire
