Job summary

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is seeking a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach to join a tight-knit team in residential and outpatient settings. You’ll draw on your own recovery experience to inspire hope, mentor clients, and promote personal responsibility within a recovery-focused program.

Responsibilities include participating in planning, coordinating care, documenting in the EMR, and sometimes leading group activities.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Life experience that allows individuals to identify self as peer and/or coach.
• Current certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and/or Recovery Coach or ability to obtain Michigan Peer Support Specialist Certification once hired may be required.

Responsibilities

• Use experiences with personal recovery to offer hope, encouragement and reassurance to the people served within the program.
• Participate as assigned in clinical and staff meetings.
• Participate in the person centered planning process as requested by persons served.
• Work with program leadership to implement programmatic changes by utilizing evidence based practices to improve the quality of our services and outcomes.
• Assist the people we serve to become active participants in their treatment and encourage self-advocacy while in the program.
• Document interactions in the electronic medical record and coordinate with other treatment team members as necessary.
• In individual and/or group settings, provide services aimed at promoting independence, community inclusion and productivity.
• Work as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide the best possible care and/or treatment to each person served.
• May schedule and lead group programming.
• May provide formal and impromptu training for direct care staff and other team members to assist the team in utilizing a recovery-oriented approach.
• Lears and helps to accomplish patients’ treatment plans and goals.
• Support and promote a recovery focused environment and person-centered approach within the program.
