Job summary

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services seeks a compassionate Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach to empower individuals through lived experience. You will mentor and motivate clients in residential and outpatient settings, fostering hope, self-advocacy, and recovery.

You join an interdisciplinary team, participate in planning, coordinate with clinicians, document in the EMR, and, when needed, lead group activities.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months post high school education in behavioral sciences may be preferred.
• Life experience identifying as a peer and/or coach.
• Current certification as Certified Peer Support Specialist and/or Recovery Coach or ability to obtain Michigan Peer Support Specialist Certification.
• May be required to have been served by the public mental health system.
• May be required to have been served by the Public Mental Health System.

Responsibilities

• Use personal recovery experience to offer hope and encouragement to clients.
• Participate in clinical and staff meetings.
• Assist in person-centered planning and program changes using evidence-based practices.
• Help clients become active participants in their treatment and encourage self-advocacy.
• Document interactions in the EMR and coordinate with the treatment team.
• Provide services in individual or group settings to promote independence and community inclusion.
