Job summary

Ohio Living in Cleveland seeks a Certified Occupancy Specialist to oversee the re-examination process for continued HUD subsidy, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards.

You will manage the recertification interviews, input data, explain rent calculations to residents, and prepare notices and HUD-50059 forms. The role requires a high school diploma, certification within 90 days, and a preferred Associate’s degree.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Occupancy Specialist Certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Associate’s degree in public service, business administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains organization of all phases of the recertification process, conducive with required deadlines.
• Conducts the re-examination interview, process, and maintains files and correspondence, ensuring proper verification methods and use of income verification system.
• Reviews resident files and verification forms for accuracy and completeness as well as accurately inputs data into computer systems in a timely manner.
• Assists with background checks, move-in, and move-out paperwork.
• Answers inquiries concerning policies and practices associated with the application and/or re-examination processes in a courteous and professional manner.
• Explains rent calculation to tenants and assists with completion of re-certification materials as necessary.
• Prepares and sends appropriate notices of rent adjustments in accordance with HUD regulations.
• Submits monthly ancillary charges for rent statements.
• Prepares and completes Form HUD-50059 accurately and submits to the HUD computer system within deadline requirements.
• All other duties as assigned.
