Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and experience with a front desk/reception area.
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a broad variety of constituents.
  • Child Protection Clearances required by Delaware’s Beau Biden Law (based on SBI and FBI Criminal Record Checks).
  • Understanding and support of the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Control the flow of foot traffic through the main lobby, directing or referring clients and associates to the correct departments.
  • Receive and redirect telephone calls and mail/packages to appropriate parties.
  • Answer phone calls, ensuring correct call routing.
  • Greet and assist visitors and callers professionally.
  • Take and record detailed messages for voicemails or callers who cannot be connected.
  • Assist consumers with obtaining food from the food pantry.
  • Complete mailing, sorting, and folding projects as directed.
  • Maintain security measures in the reception area.
  • Keep the reception area neat and clean; communicate cleaning needs to leadership or maintenance.
  • Complete monthly food statistics.
  • Ensure residents sign in and out as they enter or leave.
  • Check resident handbags and luggage for food, illegal drugs, weapons, and other prohibited items.
  • Accept packages and mail, record arrival dates, and deliver to the correct addressee.

SCHEDULE: Full Time – Monday through Friday (8am to 4:30pm)

SALARY: $15.75 per hour; Non‑Exempt
