Job summary

RSM US LLP's Real Estate Finance as a Service (FaaS) practice is seeking a Senior Associate to join our team and contribute to month-end close, financial reporting, and year-end audit support for private, middle-market real estate clients.

You will work with client executives and rely on our cloud-based tech stack while developing a Controller skill set through hands-on accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
• Experience performing property-level accounting and finance functions
• Experience working with property managers to resolve accounting issues and explain variances
• Experience in Real Estate technology systems (Yardi, MRI, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Public accounting, consulting, or professional services experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to change
• Experience with automated accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, Blackline, FloQast, Basis)
• Pursuing CPA or CPA is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Serve as key point of contact for Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, and Month End Close cycles
• Work within client tech environments and the FaaS tech stack
• Lead, manage and coach client services staff
• Review monthly journal entries for expenses and assets for accuracy
• Approve bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and variance analyses
• Provide actionable insights and decision support to client management
• Identify opportunities to improve monthly operations and processes
• Define and document repeatable methodologies with tools and templates
• Explore additional add-on processes, systems, and integrations to drive close efficiencies
• Understand the technology stack and potential improvements
