Job summary

RSM US LLP is seeking a Real Estate Finance as a Service (FaaS) Manager in the Chicago area to lead accounting and finance for multiple clients. You will manage a team, coordinate with client executives, and drive process improvements using the firm's cloud tech stack.

You will oversee month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and audit support while partnering with private market clients. Strong GAAP knowledge and real estate accounting experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; CPA is required or in process.
• Experience performing and reviewing property level accounting and finance functions.
• Experience working with property managers to resolve accounting issues and explain variances.
• Expertise in Real Estate technology systems (Yardi, MRI, etc.).
• Progressive experience in accounting and financial management in a real estate environment; leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Overall day to day management of accounting and finance for multiple clients in a shared services environment with a Controller role.
• Work in client technology environments and in the FaaS tech stack.
• Participate in client design sessions to analyze requirements and redesign processes.
• Lead, coach, and develop client services staff.
• Review monthly financial statements and variance analyses; provide actionable insights.
• Identify opportunities to improve monthly operations and drive efficiencies.
• Define repeatable methodologies and document templates for future projects.
• Manage engagement budgets and economics; oversee onboarding of new clients.
• Prepare service agreements and statements of work; assist in proposals.
