Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps hires tutors to work in local schools, delivering 20 minutes of reading practice to pairs of students each day and tracking progress with a coach. You’ll join a nationwide effort to boost reading skills and student confidence.

The program runs during the 2026-27 school year with 35 hours per week full-time or 25 hours per week part-time options; AmeriCorps stipends and education awards support growth and service.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer use (email and online navigation).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
