Job summary

Reading Corps is hiring Reading Tutors to help students become strong readers at local schools. You’ll deliver proven activities, coach students one-on-one, and track progress with a school on-site coach.

Each day you’ll tutor pairs for 20 minutes, follow a schedule, and participate in training and coaching to support growth. This AmeriCorps program, run by Ampact, offers stipends and education awards; positions run August 2026 through June 2027.

Qualifications

• Dependable with good attendance history.
• Able to follow instructions and use feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email, online navigation).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading and writing.
• 18+ with a HS diploma or equivalent.
• US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
