Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Trainmaster in Pittsburg, KS to lead the daily yard-terminal and road operating plan, ensuring safe and cost-effective movement of traffic. The role emphasizes coaching on operational standards and building a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate has railway conductor experience, a valid driver's license, and supervisory background, with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to work varied shifts, nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Railway experience as a conductor required; locomotive engineer qualification is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work varied shifts, nights, weekends.
• 2+ years of supervision in logistics or operations is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate yard-terminal/road operating plans to ensure safe, cost-effective movement.
• Oversee train movements in yard and on mainline; supervise personnel and coordinate with departments.
• Uphold safety, service, productivity and financial metrics for the terminal.
• Lead safety compliance and investigate incidents per policy.
• Support training and mentoring of Train & Engine staff; may operate trains.
